I think that the most interesting part of photography is framing because of the endless possibilities that it provides to an artist. Simply being able to get a new perspective on a topic, or understand a situation through someone else’s eyes, is an important concept to grasp and acknowledge. This is what inspires me throughout my photography. Specifically, I focus on nature and naturally occurring textures and patterns. I find it intriguing that there are so many layers that we usually are not paying attention to when encountering the world, therefore, I wanted to hyper-focus on what we might take for granted when confronted with nature. My goal is to contrast what institutions and standards generally want people to focus on, with what one actually sees with their own eyes. Focusing on the little details instead of the big picture is what I attempt to visualize in my work, and ultimately show my audience what the world looks like through a different lens. Allowing others to see without their viewpoints and biases, lets them gain a new appreciation for what they are actually looking at.
